Official Statement of the Movement for Reform and Development of Tajikistan:

The Movement for Reform and Development of Tajikistan temporarily suspends its participation in the National Alliance of Tajikistan until the following issue is resolved:

The Political Council of the National Alliance of Tajikistan should consist of nine members, with three representatives from each participant: three from the ‘Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan,’ three from the ‘Movement for Reform and Development of Tajikistan,’ and three from the ‘Anjuman-i Azad Andeshon-i Tojikiston.’ However, as of today, 13 out of 19 members of the Political Council of the National Alliance of Tajikistan are from the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan, which creates an imbalance and leads to decisions favoring this party. This violates democratic principles and contributes to the formation of dictatorship and a personality cult within the Alliance.

The Central Asian Migrant Association, which is a human rights organization created by Ilhomjon Yakubov, a member of the Political Council of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan, should not hold a mandate within the Political Council of the National Alliance of Tajikistan. The reason is that this is not an opposition group but an association established by a member of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan. If it remains within the National Alliance of Tajikistan, it should under no circumstances hold a mandate in the Council.

Moreover, we insist on the removal of Saidyonusi Istaravshani, an employee of the Ministry of Intelligence and National Security (MOIS/VEVAK) of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is also a member of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan, from the Political Council of the National Alliance of Tajikistan.

The leader of the National Alliance of Tajikistan, Muhiddin Kabiri, has created a personality cult, and 75% of the Political Council now consists of members of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan. The leaders of other movements and political forces that founded the National Alliance of Tajikistan express deep concern over these developments. We propose that the leadership of the Alliance of Tajikistan should rotate annually. We also demand the suspension of the National Alliance of Tajikistan’s engagement with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We provide 72 hours to implement these changes. Otherwise, we will make the decision to withdraw from the National Alliance of Tajikistan, which is currently fully controlled by the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan.
